We’re pleased to announce Bell & Sons Removals as the winner of our Removals Company of the Year award.
The family-run removals and storage company has spent 30 years helping families and businesses move across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and further afield. Backed by more than a century of family experience, it handles local, national and international removals, professional packing, containerised storage and commercial moves.
Thirty years as a family business
Philip Bell established Bell & Sons in 1996 after working as an estimator in the removals industry.
He wanted to offer customers across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire a more personal service, built on hard work, trust and genuine care. Those principles have remained part of the business throughout its 30 years.
The company has since grown to include Phil’s wife, Lisa, and their sons, George and James. Reaching its 30th anniversary while remaining a family-run business is one of its proudest achievements.
Helping customers through the moving process
Moving a home or business involves far more than transporting belongings between two addresses. Dates need to be coordinated, possessions must be packed and storage may need to be arranged, often while an entire property chain depends on everything happening at the right time.
Bell & Sons understands the pressure this can place on customers.
Its team manages everything from straightforward household removals to professional packing, containerised storage and complex commercial or international moves. Throughout the process, the focus is on keeping the move organised and manageable.
Every customer’s belongings are handled with the same care the team would expect during a move of their own.
Experience passed down through generations
Although Bell & Sons has traded for 30 years, the family’s experience in the removals industry goes back much further.
That knowledge becomes particularly useful when plans change. Completion dates can move, property chains can shift and customers may suddenly need help at very short notice.
An experienced team can respond calmly, adjust the plan and find a practical way forward.
For Bell & Sons, professionalism means having the right vehicles and equipment, but it also means knowing how to support people through what can be a stressful day.

Responding when a customer needed urgent help
During one recent move, a customer was given just two days’ notice to leave their property. If they could not move in time, the entire chain was at risk of collapsing.
It was a substantial job that required the team to provide a full packing service before placing the customer’s belongings into storage.
With little time to prepare, the whole team worked together to pack, remove and safely store everything before the deadline.
The short timescale did not mean lowering the usual standard of care. Bell & Sons remained focused on completing the job properly while giving the customer one less thing to worry about.
The move showed how valuable teamwork, flexibility and experience can be when circumstances change without warning.
Growing while remaining personal
During its 30 years in business, Bell & Sons has worked through recessions, downturns in the housing market and changing customer expectations.
The removals industry has developed too, with new technology, equipment and methods for planning and managing moves.
Bell & Sons has adapted by investing in its team, vehicles, equipment and services. What it has protected is the personal service on which the company was founded.
For the Bell family, growth must never come at the expense of the care and attention each customer receives.
A reputation built through trust
Bell & Sons is proud of reaching its 30th anniversary, but its relationships with customers matter just as much.
Many people return to the company when they move again, while others recommend it to friends, relatives and colleagues. That continued trust means a great deal to the family.
Customers place furniture, treasured possessions and items with considerable financial or sentimental value in the team’s care. A move can also coincide with an important change in someone’s life, whether they are buying their first home, downsizing, moving closer to family or beginning again somewhere new.
Bell & Sons never takes that responsibility for granted.
Part of the local community
Over the past three decades, Bell & Sons has formed lasting relationships with families and businesses across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
The company also supports local organisations through sponsorship and works with other independent businesses where possible.
To the Bell family, being a local company means playing an active part in the community and building real connections with the people and organisations around them.
A special award during a milestone year
Bell & Sons told us the team was “absolutely thrilled” to learn it had won Removals Company of the Year.
The award arrives as the company celebrates its 30th anniversary and the next generation of the Bell family becomes increasingly involved in its future.
For the family, this recognition belongs to everyone who has contributed to the business over the years. That includes family members and the wider removals team who represent Bell & Sons on every job.
It also recognises the reputation they have built by helping customers through moves of every size.
Giving customers greater confidence
Bell & Sons sees the award as recognition of the trust customers have placed in the company over the past 30 years.
A move can be emotional as well as practical. The team may be handling possessions collected over a lifetime or helping someone leave a home filled with memories.
Good service therefore requires more than efficiency. Care, communication and reliability matter too.
Bell & Sons hopes the award gives new and returning customers further confidence in the service they will receive.
Preparing for the next generation
Bell & Sons plans to continue growing while protecting the principles that have guided the business for its first 30 years.
The company will keep investing in its people, fleet and services while introducing technology that can make moving easier for customers.
With the next generation of the Bell family helping to carry the company forward, its focus will be on improving the service without losing the personal approach behind it.
Thanking the people behind the business
Bell & Sons would like to thank its team for the hard work and dedication they bring to every move.
The family would also like to recognise everyone who has supported the company behind the scenes, along with the customers who have chosen Bell & Sons, recommended it to others and returned for another move.
That continued support and trust mean a great deal to the whole family.
We’re pleased to recognise Bell & Sons Removals as our Removals Company of the Year and celebrate a family business that has spent 30 years helping people move forward.
